DOCTRINAL BELIEFS

  1. We believe that all Scripture is the divinely inspired Word of God.  II Timothy 3:16,17
  2. We believe in one God eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Matt 28:18-19
  3. We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.  Matt 1:16-18, 21, 25
  4. We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Godhead, dwells in every believer, sealing them unto the day of redemption, and by His baptism unites all to Christ in one body.  John 16:8-11; I Corinthians 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:13-14
  5. We believe that man was created in the image of God; he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God.  All human beings are born with a sinful nature.  Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 51:3; Romans 6:23
  6. We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and all who believe in Him are justified by faith and regenerated by the Holy Spirit, becoming the children of God.  I Timothy 1:15; Acts 4:12; John 1:12-13
  7. We believe in the literal, physical resurrection of our Lord, His ascension into Heaven, and His present life there for us as High Priest and advocate.  John 10:11-24; Acts 1:10; Hebrews 8:1
  8. We believe in the personal, imminent, pretribulational and premillennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His redeemed ones.  I Thessalonians 4:13-17
  9. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the lost.  Acts 24:15; Revelation 20

We hold the following positions:

  1. We believe the modern “Charismatic” movement characterized by a strong emphasis on experience and “Baptism in the Spirit” evidenced by “Speaking in Tongues”, being “Slain in the Spirit,” and “Faith-Healing”  is out of harmony with the Word of God.  We believe God does hear and answer the prayer of faith, in accordance with His own will, for the sick and afflicted.  I Corinthians 13:8-10; Ephesians 1:13-14; I Corinthians 2:9-12;  14:6-12; John 16:8-15 II Corinthians 12:7-10
  2. We believe Homosexuality is a sinful and detestable lifestyle, NOT acceptable to God.   A person must choose NOT to act on homosexual urges as with any other sinful sexual desires.   Any sexual relationship outside of marriage is sexual immorality, and is detestable to God. Leviticus 18:22; Judges 19:22-23; Romans 1:26-27: Genesis 13:13, 19:4-5; I Corinthians 6:13,18-20
  3. Alcohol, drug use, smoking, and other activities that destroy the body are not honorable to God.  I Corinthians 6:19-20; Proverbs 23:29-35
  4. Abortion and taking of innocent life is directly against God’s Word.  Proverbs 6:16-17; Psalm 139:13-16
  5. Divorce and remarriage is only acceptable in the case of marital unfaithfulness or death of a spouse.  Matthew 19:6-9
